How To Spend Your Winter
South -- Way South --
In
New Zealand |
About the AuthorSmall sailboat owners, Carolyn and her husband Dave spent several winters varnishing, repairing rusty fittings and leaky water pumps, while always checking over their shoulders for that next storm front waiting to rock and roll them. They were ready for a new winter adventure, but it just wasn't going to be near their home in the Shasta-Cascade Mountains. They weren't ready to trade the nicked knuckles and salt crusted feet for frozen fingers and fur-lined boots. They took a tiki tour to New Zealand, found the price was right for their limited retirement income and returned to buy their own motorcaravan the following year. They've spent the last six winters zigzagging up and down both islands from Ninety Mile Beach in the North Island (NI) to Bluff in the South Island (SI), stopping to enjoy new friends, taking the scenic route down a lonely golf course, or poking around on a back road. If the weather looks bad, they go to the cinema. And the best part--they haven't dragged anchor in their movan yet. |
